I think it was consistent, if you look at it a certain way. The reason she
had so much trouble wasn't that she wasn't smart, it was because she was
nervous. She wouldn't have been nervous if academic achievement hadn't been
important to her. In fact, I'd guess it was because she was concerned about
admission to university that she got so nervous in the first place.
